Working across generational gaps

What is the generational gap in the workplace? Broadly speaking, it's the difference in behaviour and outlook between groups of people who were born at distinctly different times. Each generation grows up in a different context and, as a result, may have different work expectations. When we can't relate to our colleagues and they can't relate to us because of such a large age gap, it could be very difficult to work together.
